The haunted-house concept is nothing new in the movie world. In this new movie based on the old idea, director Peter Cornwell is exploring it from another angle by trying to incorporate it into a cancer patient’s pain.
The house, that the family of three – made up of the patient and his parents – occupies, has a past as a funeral home and center of séances. The saving grace of the place for them is that it is near where the teenager patient is getting treated. The shadowy past throws its evidence around in the form of blood and gore and eerie sounds and shadows. But the suffering teenager is not sure how much of it is real and how much is medicine-induced hallucination, till he takes a co-patient into confidence.
The problem with the movie is that somehow its spookiness angle does not gel properly. Despite its PG-13 stamp, it looks more like a family saga, or one that derives its strength from human emotions. Horror movies have to horror-driven, or they may end up as senseless travesties.

Whenever Manoj Night Shyamalan comes out with a film, people have high expectations with him. This is why when the film ‘The Happening’ was released both critics and audiences across the world hoped that it would be another fine piece of art from Shyamalan. Like most of his other films this film too deals with strange happenings. In the film it is shown that for unknown reasons a lot of people suddenly start committing suicide in New York City. The main characters in the film are played by Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo, Ashlyn Sanchez, Betty Buckley, and Spencer Breslin. Although the technicalities and direction in the film is not bad, the director has not been able to translate his talents onto the screen. The film fails to impress in terms of the way the characters have shaped out in the film. The film seems to be set to o average business in the box office.

A movie that includes everything mentioned in its title, from the beginning to the end. Directed by Marcel Langenegger, the thriller is about an accountant, Jonathan McQuarry, who comes in acquaintance of Wyatt Bose, another lawyer. From there on Wyatt sends Jonathan on a trip that involves some of the most intriguing desires of men, followed by deception.
Deception stars Ewan McGregor as Jonathan, Hugh Jackman as Wyatt, and a list of female actors including the sensational Maggie Q, Natasha Henstridge and Michelle Williams. Each of these girls plays a vital role in the journey of Jonathan and would be responsible for both his fall and rise in the end.
Although the name might find interest, critics and viewers did not seem to be very moved by the plot. The movie came and went out of the Box Office list silently enough for very few to notice, as does most other films in Hollywood.
