    12 Rounds is an action-packed thriller that drives a detective relentlessly through the streets of New Orleans in answer to 12 bizarre punishment rituals that look like devil’s challenges.
    The detective played by John Cena has his hands tied. The challenges emanate from an internationally known terrorist who has kidnapped his girl friend and is holding her hostage to wreck vengeance on Cena. Cena has to continue playing every daredevil game he has been asked to play, juggling courage, fear, risk, time, and every other factor that action thrillers are required to throw into the ring.
    The movie suffers from a surfeit of stunts. And the stunts are some sort of travesty of daredevilry, and might disappoint even stunt lovers. A sample stunt is one that involves driving a fire truck across the city and bulldozing property. His adventures around a brakeless car and the medical helicopter are the only ones that give some respite.
    Kidnapped girlfriends seem to be Cena’s routine cross, the way he was seen caught in a similar situation in his earlier movie ‘The Marine’ as well.

    The haunted-house concept is nothing new in the movie world. In this new movie based on the old idea, director Peter Cornwell is exploring it from another angle by trying to incorporate it into a cancer patient’s pain.
    The house, that the family of three – made up of the patient and his parents – occupies, has a past as a funeral home and center of séances. The saving grace of the place for them is that it is near where the teenager patient is getting treated. The shadowy past throws its evidence around in the form of blood and gore and eerie sounds and shadows. But the suffering teenager is not sure how much of it is real and how much is medicine-induced hallucination, till he takes a co-patient into confidence.
    The problem with the movie is that somehow its spookiness angle does not gel properly. Despite its PG-13 stamp, it looks more like a family saga, or one that derives its strength from human emotions. Horror movies have to horror-driven, or they may end up as senseless travesties.

    In his latest offering ‘Knowing’, where a series of phantasmagorical events are triggered off by the discovery of a time capsule in an elementary school, Nicolas Cage has come out with a sui generis species of a movie. Never mind that nothing in the movie makes any sense, but the scientist in the movie whom Cage portrays has to stop the apocalypse predicted in the time capsule. Other predictions in it have already happened and he has a moral obligation to prevent the coming catastrophe. So he forces the viewers to put up with crazy conglomerations of invading aliens and blood-curdling disasters for two hours.
    If terrifying people with images of future destruction was the aim of the movie, he has succeeded in it. After movies like ‘World Trade Center’ and ‘Next’, on the aftermath of 9/11, there seems to be a delusion that mass doom is the true to life scenario.
    Grading a movie cannot add even an iota to its credibility. The surreal stuff, which the movie spewed out, deserves some bizarre grading. Moviegoers would have been better off without the spooky adventures that Nicolas Cage submitted them to.

    Everlasting Moments: Everlasting Moments is a movie directed by Jan Troell that portrays the life of a Swedish woman who has a hobby of taking photographs. The woman takes photographs not as a part of her hobby, but in order to escape the problems in her life. Although she is not an expert photographer, she manages to capture photographs as a mode of liberation from her mundane life. The main character named Maria Larsson is related to the director, and the story has been hence portrayed well with a personal touch to it. The film depicts every aspect of her life, about her abusive husband to her children as well. The film is another great piece of work from the fine director who is known for his exemplary work. The emotional effects that have been brought out in the movie are quite great, and one must see the movie in order to understand how good it really is.

    Crossing Over is all about immigrants who cross over to America, and the problems they face, when they are caught without papers. There are a lot of characters in the film, and this has caused hindrance to the development of the plot in the film. Wayne Kramer has tried the best that he could do to allow the characters to develop, however except for the character played by Harrison Ford. That the director had tried to capture all the aspects of immigration right from the people immigrating to the country, to the people helping in such immigration, and those who try to stop these immigrations the film is quite evident from the film. The clear message that is depicted in the film is that the country is good for those who are born in it, as immigrants are sure to face problems. With so much to cover, the director has not been able to do much justice to the theme of the movie.

    Delhi 6: After the stupendous success of his last film Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra has come up with Delhi 6, with a large star cast. The main role is played by Abhishek Bachchan, who has done a fine work in the movie, and has been aided by other actors as well. The way the spirit of Delhi has been captured in the movie is really great, making it a visual treat for movie goers. It can be called a visual treat of Delhi offered to the cine goers. Each one of the characters has been played by actors, who are perfect for their respective roles. The music by A.R Rehman is another plus point for this movie. Sonam Kapoor who plays the female lead in the movie looks fresh and has also done well in the movie. People would definitely like watching this movie, and the director has not let down the expectations of cine goers with his second movie.

    The main storyline of this film involves a group of people who are bestowed with super powers and need to hide from the Division, which is a government backed organization that deals with such special people. The main duty of the Division is to deal with such people, and even kill them if the need be so. Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning play main roles in this film that has nothing as such in the script or storyline. While Chris is playing the role of Nick, who has the power of moving objects with his telekinetic power, Dakota is playing Cassie, a girl with the ability to foretell the future. The film has been shot in Hong Kong unlike most other films that are either shot in Los Angeles or New York. Although there is nothing in the storyline, the performances by the Chris Evans, Dakota and Djimon Hounsou ensure that movie goers still watch this film by Paul McGuigan.

    Taken is an action film that has Liam Neeson playing the role of an operative with CIA. He plays the role of Bryan who has long retired from CIA, but has no family with him, as his wife had already left him and was married to another guy, and he has very less interactions with his daughter who treats him like a stranger. In order to break the ice with his daughter Leeson allows her to go on a trip with other friends to France, where they are kidnapped and sold away by sex traders. What begins then is a through and through thriller with Bryan going to France in order to find and bring his daughter back. He is helped in his quest by his sources in the French police. The film is an absolute delight for action movie lovers, and is finely paced. Leeson acts well as the middle aged father trying to bring back his daughter in this movie.

    This movie has been creating all the hype this year right from the time it was released. The film has an interesting script that is sure to captivate audience right from the start till the end. The story is about a young boy from the slums of Mumbai, who makes it big by winning a quiz show. The amazing direction of Danny Boyle, couple with the amazing music by A.R Rehman are the highlights of this film. With its success in the Oscars this film has definitely proved its mettle and is enjoying amazing response from audience around the world.

    This movie starring Clint Eastwood is about Walt Kowalski, who is a Korean War veteran and a complete racist. He is shown to be living in a neighborhood with people from different countries. Kowalski is shown as a loner, who does not like any of his neighbors and hardly interacts with them. After the death of his wife he becomes very irate and is always abusing his neighbors. Things are then shown to change when one day he protects his neighbors from some gang. The children from that family try befriending him and after growing closer to them Kowalski is shown going in for a transformation. Clint Eastwood has put up a commendable performance in the film, and it looks good to see him acting good at such an age. This movie is surely a must watch and the fact that Clint Eastwood has not only acted in the movie, but also directed it adds to its appeal.

    Notorious is a biopic about the rapper known as Notorious B.I.G, and shows the story of life with valuable inputs from the rapper’s mother, Sean Combs and Faith Evans among others. The rapper whose original name was Christopher Wallace had been a drug dealer and an abusive husband as well, and this has been shown in the film as well. While the film has helped in showing the various aspects of the life of the rapper, it has failed to answer many questions regarding his life as well. The performances by the actors in the film are quite good, and mainly the one by Jamal Woodland who plays the main role of the rapper in the film. There is a bit of romance that is thrown in the film as well and the director George Tillman Jr, has definitely come up with a fine film, which is sure to find takers amongst the fans of the rapper.

    This is perhaps the most inspiring movie of the year till now. Some excellent acting by the Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell and Liev Schreiber makes this movie even better. a movie based on real life situation in which Jews of Eastern Europe were being killed by the Nazis during World War II. The movie shows the story of three Jews brothers who escaped from a certain death situation from the Nazis.

    Nazis were trying to eradicate Jews from Eastern Europe but these three brothers viz. Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell and Liev Schreiber were looking to take revenge. They wanted to take revenge not only for the problems they had to face but also for the innocent Jews who had been slaughtered by these Nazis. As the tale of the bravery of the brothers’ started to spread, more and more people started to join their group in order to face and fight the Nazis.

    The movie overall is excellent but at times certain themes seem repetitive which makes the movie boring at times. Apart from that director Edward Zwick did an excellent job.

    The movie is excellent in all aspects from acting to direction to music, everything seemed perfect. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has an excellent approach in which a man is born in his 80s and with time he gets younger. The role is played by Brad Pitt and the movie laments the way the he leads his life from then on.

    The movie’s theme may be based on a person (Benjamin) getting younger but there is a lot more to it. There are situations in which Benjamin loses his friends at the very young age but with time he gets younger. The director makes a wonderful movie out of one which actually lacks a real story. It is nothing other than a movie based on the life of a person who faces an opposite like i.e. every aspect of his life is opposite to the normal life situations.

    Overall the movie is an excellent one with some fine acting by Brad Pitt and direction by David Fincher. You may well watch the movie once but if you are looking to watch the movie multiple times, you are bound to get bored.

    The 2008 historical thriller was based upon the 1944 assassination plot of Adolf Hitler, by his fellow German officers, using Operation Valkyrie. Director Bryan Singer tried to raise the curtains to the Nazi dominated Germany, under Hitler’s rule, where few defectors wished to take over control from him, by using the national emergency plan.

    Tom Cruise did a good job playing the character of Colonel Claus von Stauffenburg, who was one among the several key plotters. The film shows several scenes involving the purpose and works of the Gestapo, and their plans during the World War II. Some of the moments in the film uphold the ruthlessness and tragedies of the war, revolving around the main plot to eliminate the Fuhrer.

    Valkyrie could not be acclaimed as breath-taking historical thriller, but at the same time it did fairly well at the box office. Receiving mixed reviews from several viewers, along with the critics, it might seem that Singer has tried his best, but could have done better.

    Will Smith is one of the top notch actors in the industry and his films have always been well liked by the audience. Seven Pounds, the latest film starring the actor that was released this year, however failed to impress audiences much. The storyline of the film is quite confusing and is one of the main reasons for the film not doing well. The story is about Ben, who is shown traveling across Los Angeles looking for people who are either poor or sick, and trying to help them. The main plot of the film however revolves around the relationship that is shared between Ben and Emily played by Will Smith and Rosario Dawson respectively. The director, Gabriele Muccino has failed to portray the film in a better way, and could have done a better job. Audiences seeing the movie for the sake of seeing Will Smith will definitely be disappointed by this movie.
